Tom's Mattel Electronics Page |
Welcome to Tom's Mattel Electronics Page!
This page is about the greatest electronic handheld games of all time: The LED Handhelds of the 1970's and early 1980's. Handheld LED classics from Mattel, Entex, Tomy, Coleco and others created the handheld gaming industry we have today. This page is NOT about cheezy LCD games (YUK!) or any other format other then LED. There is a certain charactor with LED games that is missing on the newer handheld systems. LED handhelds were built to last, LCD games are disposable junk. I have tried to include all of the significatant and popular LED handheld's on this page and will save the rare ones for last.
This web page will hopefully bring back some memories as well as provide useful information about electronic handheld games for general interest or collecting. If you have any questions or comments you can send me some e-mail.
I have included a Fun Rating for each handheld listed with a score of 1 to 10. 1 to 4 = Don't waste your time, 5 = Yawn, 6 = OK, 7 = Fun, 8 = Very Fun, 9 = A Must-Have, 10 = One of the greatest handheld games of all time. I have also listed a Rarity Rating for each game based on Clint's Handheld FAQ.
